Adelaide, South Australia – Keolis Downer Adelaide is proud to announce its sponsorship of WOMADelaide, The World’s Festival, as Accessibility Partner for the third year running.
Held on the traditional lands of the Kaurna People, WOMADelaide is an iconic open-air festival celebrating cultural discovery in the heart of Adelaide. The Worlds Festival, since 1992, is a truly unique part of the Australian festival landscape, showcasing the best in music, arts, dance and ideas from around the world.
Keolis Downer Adelaide (KDA) is committed to sustainability, accessibility, and bringing people together, which aligns with the values of WOMADelaide. This sponsorship allows Keolis Downer Adelaide to showcase its commitment to these values and to the community.
“We are thrilled to support WOMADelaide as Accessibility Partner for the third year running” said Robert Tatton-Jones, Managing Director of Keolis Downer Adelaide.
“We have the privilege of providing essential train transport to the people of Adelaide and their visitors, and we take this responsibility seriously, striving to make public transport the first choice for our customers, whatever their background or reason to travel.
“Everyone in the community benefits from participating in accessible and inclusive community events and we look forward to welcoming festival goers onboard this March.”
As Accessibility Partner to WOMADelaide, KDA is providing funding which supports the inclusion of facilities for festival attendees with special needs, including accessible seating and the provision of accessibility ushers to support and guide patrons requiring assistance.
The sponsorship has also enabled the donation of festival tickets to disability support service providers Novita, Carers SA and TwoWay Street. These have been gifted to provide the chance for their individual and family clients to attend the festival, who previously may not have had the opportunity or confidence to attend in the past due to accessibility limitations. The support work offered by carers and the essential role they play in our community can also go unrecognised sometimes, so it was important to extend a thank you to them too.
“We are grateful to have Keolis Downer Adelaide as our Accessibility Partner for the third year,” said Ian Scobie AM, WOMADelaide Festival Director. “Their commitment to sustainability and accessibility aligns with our own values and we are glad to have them on board as we celebrate bringing people together through the power of music, arts, and dance.”
WOMADelaide takes place on March 10 – 13, 2023 in Botanic Park / Tainmuntilla, Adelaide, South Australia.
